and webrynth master Matt Lum hooked me up!!! KatyOliver.com is back!
KO has been a fan of The New Yorker magazine for as long as we can remember.
In fact, years ago we were so inspired by our friend Kayt's parents' artful and clever
bathroom tribute to The New Yorker (they wallpapered the whole bathroom with covers
from the 70s) that we began collecting covers in hopes of someday following suit in a
room in our very own home. Well, we're sad to say we are so very disappointed with the
publication that we are actually considering boycotting it hence forth...Sad! But valid!
The first sign of trouble was Anthony Lane's loathsome and misogynistic review of the
Sex and The City movie (as well as the accompanying artwork by David Hughes). The
bitter, brutal and blatantly hateful review was just beyond justification. It reeked of
rage and forced me to question the integrity of the editor(s). And now, to make matters
worse, the pub. has lowered itself to put a horrific and hateful cover on the stands
featuring an illustration by Barry Blitt. His artistic vision features a very distorted Barack
Obama in full-on Osama Bin Laden mode, American flag burning in the fireplace (of the
Oval Office?) and his wife, complicit with machine gun. WTF??? What's the argument "for"
you ask? Something along the lines of addressing the misrepresentation of Obama in
the press, the "politics of fear," blah blah blah. Sorry, not falling for it. No reasonable,
rational thinking person has gone there, and certainly not a reader of The New Yorker.
So what, what, WHAT is the deal with inciting this kind of fear, hatred, racism?
Seriously?! I could go on, but truthfully, I'm too disgusted and ultimately just too
disappointed. I no longer trust The New Yorker. I no longer respect The New Yorker.
Sad, sad, sad. Disappointment.

Legendary comic George Carlin died of heart failure yesterday in Santa Monica.
George had a history of heart problems. He checked into the hospital yesterday
after complaining about chest pains.
Shit! Piss! Fuck! Cunt! Cocksucker! Motherfucker! Tits!
Sad! George Carlin was "especially noted for his political and black humor and
his observations on language, psychology, and religion along with many taboo
subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the
1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5-4
decision by the justices affirmed the government's right to regulate Carlin's act on
the public airwaves. He placed second on the Comedy Central's list of the 10 greatest
stand-up comedians, ahead of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a
frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade
Johnny Carson era, and was the first person to host Saturday Night Live."
He is survived by his second wife Sally Wade and his daughter Kelly Carlin.
RIP George!

"I've been single for seven years and as I get older, I think all I want is to be loved.
The world becomes a place where you think, let everyone else have it. Let them all
fight over jobs and money . . . You want things in life that are lovely."

KO is crazy about these hair (master)pieces made by Japanese artist Nagi Noda.
There's a little bit of "The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss" in them, but they still seem very
original. KO sees passion~ animalistic, honest passion!~ in them. Very fresh and fun!![]()

Well, it's official. The New Kids On The Block have released the video for
their new song "Summertime" and KO knew you were just dying to know...
KO likes it! Haha! For real! KO loves the cheez and NKOTB deliver it easily in
a perfect-for-summer pop song only a real fool could appreciate! Yay! No joke,
the first time I heard this song I knew it was New Kids. I'm not proud, mind you,
I just feel you all deserve full disclosure. You really have to want to watch this vid,
and I can't honestly suggest you should...but for those of you (and you know who
you are) who are curious, KO took care of business and posted it below. Easy love!
They totally reference their Hangin' Tough dance days(!)...![]()
...and it really seems like Jordan, of all the guys, gives the best
tongue-in-cheek nod to the absurdity (and fun) of the whole thing...
KO dedicates this post to BP (MC! MC!).
Now you have someone to blame for knowing the song!![]()
